At Brampton Abbotts, we teach a varied and creative curriculum, inspiring our children through exciting topics and themed weeks as well as creating a sound basis for learning through more traditional means. Each term classes undertake a new topic through which we endeavour to cover as many aspects of the curriculum as we can. This ensures that children are well motivated to learn and excited by what they do. Educational Visits, workshops, visitors and travelling educational providers enhance learning at first hand experience. Where it is not appropriate to cover a curricular area through topic, subjects are taught discretely to ensure a comprehensive coverage of the curriculum.
Our lessons are well planned and we differentiate in order to meet the needs of our mixed-age classes and those with special needs. We encourage pupils to take responsibility for their work and actions, teaching them how to work independently and in groups. We have specialist teachers for Music and French and a wealth of help from Governors and friends of the school. Extra-curricular activities are plentiful and the school has a fine record in providing excellent opportunities for Sport, Drama and Music. We aim to help our children to understand what is needed of them in order to lead a happy, fulfilling and healthy life.
Brampton Abbotts is committed to meeting the requirements of the National Curriculum which all groups follow. We have updated our schemes of work to reflect the content and challenge of the new curriculum. Teachers have received training in the key areas of curriculum change and we are ready to provide outstanding curriculum provision. The curriculum will be taught with the consideration of the needs of all learners. Our curriculum will be exciting and will inspire children to nurture a passion for learning.
The national curriculum provides pupils with an introduction to the essential knowledge that they need to be educated citizens. It introduces pupils to the best that has been thought and said; and helps engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement.
